The European Union is providing grant funds in the amount of €27 million in order to provide large-scale support for reforms in the agricultural sector of Uzbekistan.

A meeting with representatives of the European Union representative office in Uzbekistan was held at the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Ilhom Norkulov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ahad Khaydarov and heads of relevant structural structures, as well as head of the EU Cooperation Department Wim Riepma, project manager Adrian Neel took part in the meeting.

At the meeting, negotiations were held on the grant of €27 million provided by the European Union for large-scale support for reforms in the agricultural sector of Uzbekistan.

In this case, these funds will be focused on the implementation of the following agricultural reforms:

•  implementation of measures to adapt to climate change and mitigate its consequences;
•  development of the system of science, education, information and consulting services in agriculture;
•  ensuring food security and healthy nutrition;
•  diversification of public spending.

Following the meeting, the target indicators to be achieved for receiving grant funds were agreed upon.
