As many as 3.500 visitors mainly from Uzbekistan but also in sizable numbers from neighboring Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan visited the fair despite at short notice introduced regional travel restrictions.

German and Russian companies were organized within their official national pavilions. Some Italian companies used, as in the previous years, a joint pavilion organized by the Italian agricultural machinery association CERMAC.

As many as 12 leading German companies took part in the national pavilion under the newly minted headline “GERMANY WORKS” supported by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture. More than 20 Russian manufacturers of machinery and equipment for the agro-industrial complex were presented within the National Participation of the Russian Federation. The Russian pavilion was supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (Minpromtorg).

On the opening day, a round table “Russia – Uzbekistan: developing mutually beneficial cooperation in agriculture” was held, with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, in which representatives of Russian companies, Uzbek state and public structures, as well as participants and visitors of the exhibition took part. The event was followed by the official launch of the Assalam Agro App – a PPP of the State Phytosanitary Service lead by Ibrokhim Ergashev and some Uzbek Agriculture-IT specialists led by Makhmud Kodiri. The new app aims at keeping Uzbek farmers and processers up to date regarding plant cultivation issues, market information, legal requirements, and upcoming regulations.

On the second day, at a  panel discussion hosted by Yuliya Bondarenko DLG Ukraine under the heading “Practical application of innovative technologies of Germany in agriculture of Uzbekistan”, innovative approaches to plant growth monitoring, grain storage, knowledge transfer, exhibitions and low interest finance schemes were  discussed by the participants Harald Braungardt (Step Systems), Alisher Hamraev (Budissa Bag), Umid Sayfudinov (Chemonics), Stefan Kresse (IFWexpo) and  Bulat Khamidov (COMMIT PP).

“We have many innovative projects in the development of technologies in agriculture, but most important for the consumer is to remember that technology is only an auxiliary element that helps to achieve results, but most important is a skilled and knowledgeable farmer working on the land.”

— Harald Braungardt, Managing Director of Step Systems GmbH, Germany

“Agricultural companies should not work harder, but smarter – this is the rule of the 21st century. It is very important to establish a management system in agricultural companies. Visit local companies in the regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which have already successfully introduced innovative technologies into their production, found their application in their regions and established a management system,”

emphasized Umid Sayfudinov, a specialist in the development of value chains in agriculture, a USAID agribusiness development project in Uzbekistan.

The AgroExpo Uzbekistan / Agrotech Expo 2021 exhibition has given a much-needed new impetus for the rapidly developing agro-industrial sector in Uzbekistan. It has over the last couple of years developed into an effective platform for discussing current trends in the agricultural sector and the development of international contacts.

Another FIRST – the exhibition has been designed and held in a hybrid format

Thanks to the innovative online platform, buyers and visitors who did not have the opportunity to visit the live exhibition were still able to get to know the exhibitors, read and download product descriptions and service information, view videos and photos, as well as send direct inquiries to a contact person from the laptop or mobile device and all this 24/7. The online format of the exhibition will continue until the end of 2021.

The international support for the exhibitions was provided by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation (Minpromtorg) and DLG – the German Agricultural Society.

The member of the DLG “family” IFWexpo Heidelberg organized the participation of most of the international companies at the exhibition. IFWexpo Heidelberg has a portfolio of 30 events in the CIS countries, Middle East, South and East Asia.

The next edition of AgroExpo Uzbekistan/Agrotech Expo is scheduled for the beginning of May 2022 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (Germany) has already decided to support the show in 2022 with a German pavilion and the organisers are expecting other countries, such as the Netherlands to follow suit.
