Estonia has begun exporting cattle to Uzbekistan via Riga Airport. The new air transport route creates additional opportunities for international trade in breeding livestock and the development of the livestock sector across Central Asia.
In the second half of October 2026, two trial flights transported 240 head of young cattle raised in Estonia from Riga to Tashkent. The shipments followed the preparation of specialised infrastructure at the AG Handling cargo terminal and the coordination of the necessary veterinary and customs procedures.
The project involves Latvia’s Food and Veterinary Service, customs authorities, Fly Khiva airline, AG Handling and freight agent Rava Cargo.
The new route helps overcome the challenges of transporting livestock overland through Russia and significantly reduces delivery times. On 3 November, another flight was reported, carrying 120 Limousin beef bulls to Uzbekistan.
European livestock supplies offer new opportunities for Uzbek farmers. Importing breeding animals can improve the genetic quality of local herds, support the development of beef and dairy farming, and increase farm productivity.
However, successful development of the sector requires more than high-quality livestock. Modern housing, feeding systems, veterinary services and breeding technologies are equally important.
These issues will be particularly relevant at AgroExpo Uzbekistan 2026, the international agricultural exhibition taking place on 25–27 November 2026 at the Uzexpocentre Exhibition Complex in Tashkent.
A major highlight of the anniversary exhibition will be the 3rd National Farmers’ Forum of Uzbekistan. It will bring together agricultural producers, government representatives, international companies and experts from across the agricultural sector.
Key topics will include farm development, breeding livestock, genetic improvement of herds, modern agricultural technologies, veterinary services, feed production and investment opportunities.
Particular attention will be given to the livestock programme, featuring an outdoor exhibition of live animals and a breeding livestock auction. Visitors will have the opportunity to see animals up close, assess their breed characteristics and explore the opportunities offered by modern livestock breeding.
For farmers, this is more than an opportunity to view livestock in person. It is also a platform for professional networking, meeting potential suppliers and establishing new business partnerships.
The exhibition will also host the 9th International Poultry Forum of Uzbekistan.
The export of Estonian cattle through Riga highlights growing international cooperation in livestock farming and the search for new logistics solutions.
AgroExpo Uzbekistan 2026 will bring together farmers, producers, investors and international technology suppliers. The Farmers’ Forum, live animal exhibition and breeding livestock auction will provide participants with opportunities to discuss the future of the sector and identify practical solutions for developing their businesses.
